As stated in the Association’s bylaws, membership is open to all persons with an expressed interest in the purposes of the Association and who pay annual dues, which are established in the Association’s bylaws. Voting privileges for amendments to the Constitution or for changes to bylaws are conferred on members who attend the annual meeting. For a ballot that is held outside the annual meeting, voting privileges are conferred on all active members. Membership may be required for participation in certain Association events.
The annual membership dues for the Whitman Studies Association are $65.00 for tenured, tenure-track, or emeritus faculty members (Regular Membership). Membership for non-tenure track faculty, independent researchers, and community members is $20 (Reduced Membership). Student Membership, which includes graduate students, is $5. We also offer a Donor Membership for those who want to support us even further, which adds $20 annual to the Regular Membership level. All dues-paying members participate in the organization equally, regardless of membership level.
